Tools Used

The following are some of the tools used by Forseng Consulting to develop eLearning, Flash, and video offerings.

PowerPoint 2007

Yes, PowerPoint!  PowerPoint gets unfairly maligned because it is so easy to abuse.  But this application is extermely useful for creating presentations (obviously) and serves as a basis for some powerful eLearning development tools such as Articulate and Camtasia.  Combined with SnagIt it can be a pretty good poor man's graphics development tool as well.

Articulate 09

Articulate's suite of development tools are quite good and I use them for many eLearning projects.  Articulate Presenter uses PowerPoint as the basis of the eLearning and provides a lot of functionality.  The published output is a Flash-based course.  Check out examples of Articulate eLearning in the eLearning Samples section of the site.

Camtasia Studio 6

For screen captures I use Camtasia Studio 6.  It is a low priced alternative to Captivate and allows some fairly sophisticated video and audio editing to produce movies.  Although oriented towards screen captures it can also import PowerPoint presentations.

Snagit 9

Snagit Version 9 is the premier screen capture tool for still images.  It includes an editor and some pretty cool image effects.  You can even do simple movie screen captures and set up simple Flash rollover hotspots as well.  Well worth the money.  I use this all the time.

SwishMax 3

I use SwishMax 3 for more complex flash interactions.  It is relatively easy to use and provides about 85% of Adobe Flash's features for about 50% of the price.  It also does some things that Adobe Flash does not.
